SO
WHAT IS TRACKER AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
A TRACKER unit is a small electronic homing device, which is fitted
to your vehicle in any number of covert places that are virtually impossible
to detect, Unlike other more expensive systems, there are no telltale antennae
or aerials to give its presents away. When stolen, it will emit a signal that
the Police can pick up. there are two systems, TRACKER
RETRIEVE and the rapid alert TRACKER
MONITOR.
- THE VEHICLE IS STOLEN
Thieves are becoming more and more skillful at bypassing modern day alarms
and immobilisers often knowing exactly what your vehicle is fitted with.
- THE VEHICLE HAS GONE, WHAT DO I DO NOW?
With TRACKER there is a choice of two types of system:-
With TRACKER RETRIEVE, once you
realise your vehicle has been stolen you then notify both Police and the 24
hour TRACKER Network Control Room.
TRACKER MONITOR incorporates a
movement detector so the unit actually senses the theft of the vehicle and
automatically alerts TRACKER Network who in turn contact you to inform
you of a probable theft.
- ACTIVATE THE SYSTEM
Once the theft has been confirmed by you, the 24-hour TRACKER
Network Control Room based in Uxbridge activates the unit on the
vehicle via a nation-wide network of transmitters. The unit then begins to
emit a uniquely coded silent tracking signal which can be detected by the
Police and the tracking procedure begins.
- TRACKING THE VEHICLE
All of the UK's 52 Police Forces
operate the system. Police cars and helicopters are fitted with the necessary
computers that will enable them to track and locate your vehicle, normally
within a few hours.
- APPREHENDING THE VEHICLE
As the system uses radio wave technology,
the vehicle can be located anywhere - in a garage, underground, in the back
of a lorry or even in steel shipping containers. TRACKER detectors
are also sited at fixed sites, such as ports, to reduce the chances of exportation.
Once the Police pick up the signal, they will find the vehicle. Police cars
have an effective range of up to 5 miles and helicopter units have a range
of up to 50 miles. There is no safe hiding place. Quite often, as well as
finding your vehicle, the thief is also caught. Sometimes, the Police will
also find other stolen vehicles in a "haul" as well as yours.
- GUARD AND RECOVER
The theft of your vehicle is never
convenient. it is even less convenient when you are informed that it is 100
miles away in a not so desirable area. Thanks to TRACKER this is no
longer a problem, GUARD AND RECOVER is a standard service on both systems.
TRACKER will arrange for a uniformed security guard to be sent immediately
to wait with your vehicle after the Police recovery and will ensure its safe
return to you by the AA anywhere in mainland Great Britain.
